Dr. Gregory R. Sonn D.O

dr sonn profile

Dr. Sonn, dually boarded in both family practice and palliative medicine, is a local physician who grew up in Fort Myers. After graduating from Cypress Lake middle and high school, he attended Florida Atlantic University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. While attending medical school at Kansas City Medical Bio-Sciences, he met his lovely wife Alisa. After completing his residency in family practice, Dr. Sonn worked with a well-established primary care provider in Fort Lauderdale. His work experience brought him to a large number of geriatric patients. As he continued to work with these patients, it became clear that they were underrepresented and in need of more specialized, dedicated physicians.

These experiences paved the way for more education and study, which eventually led to his secondary certification in palliative and hospice care. As his daughter Sara prepared for elementary school, it became clear that a move to Fort Myers would be more beneficial.

Since 2008, Dr. Sonn has worked with Hope Healthcare Services here in Fort Myers. After more than a decade of caring for patients who suffered from chronic diseases, Dr. Sonn realized that traditional medical practice (using only traditional medicines and therapies) would not be sufficient for his own health and well-being. This began yet another journey of learning.

Dr. Sonn’s education and experiences in family practice and integrative medicine have given him a great knowledge base of complimentary and alternative medicines. Couple this with over a decade of palliative care using conventional treatments, and it is easy to see why he is the ideal physician. Dr. Sonn is excited to be able to legally “prescribe” or recommend legal forms of cannabinoids to his patients in need. A firm believer in the benefits of medical marijuana, Dr. Sonn hopes that the law makers of Florida further support patient’s rights and allow further deregulation.

Dr. Heather Metchick

Dr. Heather Metchick is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and is the owner/founder of Coastal Women’s Health in New Smyrna Beach. She grew up in Stuart, Florida and attended the University of Central Florida, followed by St. George’s University School of Medicine. After completing residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Hartford, Connecticut, she returned to her roots in Florida and became the owner and founder of Coastal Women’s Health in New Smyrna Beach. She has been serving Volusia County since 2004 in private practice, caring for women with gynecology needs. Caring for women is a delicate art, and includes common conditions such as anxiety, depression and chronic pain. As medical marijuana gained momentum in Florida it became clear to Dr. Metchick that this is a safe and effective way to treat many of the conditions that she was treating with traditional medicine. On a more personal level, Dr. Metchick witnessed several family members suffer with chronic medical conditions that have been shown to be relieved with medical marijuana. She felt a strong desire to expand her medical care to reach a broader patient base who could benefit and improve their quality of life by recommending medical marijuana.
